SYNOPSIS

In the desert, every band learns that the walls between tribes are an illusion —they’ve belonged to them all along.

First episode pairs eight bands from totally different genres.  The lead singers are swapped into a different genre band based on particular vocal styles as deemed by two expert music producers.   A charismatic host will be our guide through the mayhem.   The new hybrid groups two at a time, will be tasked with creating a genre-defying cover of a well-known song in an unexpected way.

 

Over the course of several days, the bands live, write, rehearse, and record in exclusive camps nestled in the iconic Joshua Tree desert. They’ll work with top-level engineers and navigate challenges designed to push their creative limits.  Our host not only documents the process, but collects secret confessionals about this experiment and how it effects them personally.

At the end of each episode a high-energy live showdown at Pappy & Harriet’s, the legendary desert venue is performed.  In front of a crowd of locals, superfans, and fellow contestants, the newly formed mashup bands perform their take on a classic song. Two recurring judges and a rotating guest artist offer instant feedback, while online viewers on YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, will vote in real time with likes. Combined audience and social votes decide who moves forward.

At the beginning of each episode, we learn who lost the online vote and one of the mashup bands goes home.   Now a new songs are up for grabs, the singers are swapped again and we start a new challenge with new classic songs.  Genre diversity expands, musical hybrids form, and tensions rise.

In the finale the two remaining hybrid bands will performing their own original music. Only one group will walk away victorious.  The winning band shares an individual substantial cash prize and gains a massive new social media audience of millions.
