Episode 1: “Meet the Bands”

​

Two diverse genre bands are introduced through mini-documentaries. We learn who they are, where they come from, and why they play. At a desert they meet-and-greet, producers spring the twist: singers will swap into new bands, kicking off the mashup experiment.

​

Episode 2: “First Mashup”


Bands and their new singers tackle a famous song from the past, creating a reimagined cover in the Joshua Tree studios. Confessionals capture excitement and anxiety. After intense rehearsal and recording, they perform for judges and online voters, and the first elimination looms.

 

Episode 3: “First Desert Showdown”

The bands reunite with their singers for the first live performance at Pappy & Harriet’s. Judges include a member from the original song being covered. After emotional postmortems and online voting, one band is eliminated.

Episode 4: “Tempo Twist and Latin Heat”


Seven bands face a tempo-flip challenge, turning a slow ballad into a fast, Latin-inspired track. Singers swap again—against type—and the engineers push creativity to the limit. Performances electrify a bigger crowd, and another band is sent home.

Episode 5: “Family Ties and Familiar Strangers”


Six bands remain. Swaps now favor genre familiarity, letting singers pair with closer musical cousins—but the song choices remain foreign. 24-hour rehearsals lead to performances where family dynamics and rivalries emerge, culminating in another elimination and a schoolyard-style singer pick.

Episode 6: “Breaking Point and Big Risks”


Six bands face a radical surprise challenge: a genre they don’t learn until they enter the studio. Role reversals and instrument swaps force ultimate flexibility. Emotions run high, bonds strain, and bold performances define the next elimination.

Episode 7: “The Bands Take the Reins”


Five bands remain, and for the first time, the bands pick the songs. Singers must follow their lead, creating a power shift that tests trust and chemistry. Emotional, career-defining performances emerge as another band is sent home.

Episode 8: “The Singer’s Story”


Four bands left. Singers choose an original song from their home band, and the mashup band must adapt. On performance night, the singers’ original bands judge the reinterpretations—sparking pride, nostalgia, and tension—before the online audience votes.

​

Episode 9: “The Penultimate Showdown”


Three bands, three singers. Secret pairings reveal new alliances, with conflicts settled by a guitar-pick draw. Bands choose from three signature songs (banger, ballad, party hit) to showcase their evolution. Performances at Pappy & Harriet’s are the biggest yet, and two bands advance to the finale.

Episode 10: “The Ultimate Desert Duel” – Finale


The final two band/singer pairs stay together for the ultimate showdown:

  1. A reimagined iconic cover judged by the singer of that original cover at the live performance.

  2. A completely original mashup track
    With a massive crowd, star judges, and worldwide online voting, one band is crowned the first-ever winner of Mashup The Band. A final celebratory jam unites all contestants, leaving a lasting mark on desert music history.
